About Us
Since August 2008, Sarah Tripp has owned and operated Rompin' Rovers, a full service training and day care facility in Largo, Pinellas County. Sarah has a background in dog training and volunteer work and emphasises individualized behavior and obedience training programs as well as balanced, healthy, daily group play and socialization. Her training programs cover everything from potty training to informal off- leash advanced obedience. Sarah has worked with hundreds of happy clients over the last 4 years as a professional trainer, many of whom have crossed over from training to daycare and from daycare to training, after seeing the benefit of both programs.
Our emphasis is placed on client customer service, both canine and human. Sarah is always available to help out day care clients with training or behavior concerns and focuses on each dog's needs on the daycare floor, making sure that each dog is placed with the group that fit his/her personality and play style. Our groups are balanced and structured. Our Dogs have loads of fun during all- day play while learning basic manners and being redirected from aggressive, possesive or insecure behaviors.
Sarah has been a full member of the APDT and an associate member of the IACP and has served as the behavior consultant for the Sandy Paws Sled Dog Club of Tampa Bay as well as regularly contributing training articles to The Wag Mag Pet Magazine.
All Rompin' Rovers training programs and daycare experiences are tailored to the individual clients need's and goals. Please visit our "Services" page above for full training and daycare details and rates.
Our Day Care:
Our indoor daycare is 3,000 sqare feet divided into 3 large playgrounds plus an outside fenced in area. Our playgrounds have central heat and a/c for your dog's comfort and safety. Indoor playgrounds are especially helpful for those pups that are nervous during storms!
Our doggie playgroups are organized by size and play-style. What makes us unique at Rompin' Rovers is that we only accept dogs that will reliably socialize with other dogs. We do not take in dogs that show aggressive tendencies only to hold them in runs all day, we feel that this defeats the purpose of day care and stresses the dog further. We will work with dogs that may need improved social skills, confidence or exposure but are non- aggressive. We are happy to offer a free evaluation for all new customers. We will suggest a training program and or counseling for owners that need help with a dog that may be aggressive with other dogs.
Sarah makes a point to know every client and each dog's personality. Playgroups are arranged by her each morning based on her daily experience with the individual dogs and an understandging of group interaction. This means that we are able to place your dog(s) with the playgroup that will be the most fun and low stress for them! Most of our dogs become weekly regulars with little turn over. That translates into happy, stable playgroups! We tend to have about 20 dogs per day at our new location and anticipate as many as 25 soon. We are an exclusive Day Care that limits the number of dogs in each play group to ensure they remain balanced and safe as opposed to cramped and chaotic. The maximum amount of dogs that we will take at this location is 25-30 daily depending on size. We offer highly personalized attention and individually tailored behavior help for each client. Call for reservations 727-548-8300.
Dogs may come to daycare as early as 6:45 am and stay as late as 7:00 pm. Dogs are not rotated out in crates, we have ample room to let them play in their supervised groups all day, until picked up, unless otherwise requested. Dogs being fed lunch will be fed in individual kennels at 12:00 pm.
We encourage good manners here, so while your pup is having a blast with the others in the group, he or she will also be reminded not to "jump up", "mount", "mouth" or "rush the fence" . Many of our weekly regulars have found that this has had a positive effect on those same unwanted behaviors that may take place in the home.
Training:
Sarah personally designs all training programs and then works hands on with all training students. We offer sound, balanced, effective training for real life scenarios. We want you to enjoy your dog as the well mannered, happy, respectful pet you deserve. Sarah addresses issues ranging from potty training to leash aggression and reactivity, basic obedience to more advanced off leash work. All training programs are based on the specific needs of the clients. We can train you and your dog at our 3,000 sq ft. facility or at your home. References are available upon request. We have included some testimonials and a training video with our obedience info. Please click on "services" above for details on programs.
